Dongyuan Shengli Village Development is a community-oriented commercial complex in Wuhan, China, where the landscape plays a central role in connecting the serviced apartments, commercial spaces, supermarkets, and cinemas. Rather than treating the landscape as a setting around the buildings, Tierra uses it as a spatial framework for community life, creating places to gather, shop, and play throughout the development.

Informed by the enclosed courtyards of traditional Chinese neighborhood compounds, the landscape is woven horizontally and vertically through the architecture, extending across its terraces and levels to embrace the building’s form. A series of gardens, open terraces, and gathering spaces are layered through the development, leading to the rooftop where children’s dream park serves as a focal point for community activity.
