The Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is an important national infrastructure project that will contribute significantly to Singapore’s water self-sufficiency. The Plant utilises reverse osmosis and membrane technology to treat freshwater and seawater while managing rainwater by capturing one hundred percent of rainfall. This rainwater is recycled for the irrigation of the desalination plant's rain gardens and water garden systems. The design concept integrates recreation with infrastructure by linking Singapore’s cyclist-friendly Park Connector Network with generous, naturalistic spaces for community's activities and enjoyment. Singapore's fourth desalination plant is not just a mono-functional infrastructure, but also a place for the community.
